Ghana ACT provides volunteers with the opportunity to live and work side by side local Ghanaians in their communities. By working together with these communities and sharing our time and enthusiasm as volunteers as well as our access to resources we can make a difference. As members of the global population, we strive to make the world a strong, healthy and united community.
“I got every possible reaction from people when they found out I was going to Ghana; some people thought it was great, but a lot of people didn’t understand it. I’m not a science or education major, and I had not traveled on my own before or really even been outside the country. But I wanted to go, so I did, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done.”

Partner Update: We are excited to announce a new partnership with Humanity and Community Development Projects! HCDP has been a close partner to Ghana ACT since 2009 when Ghana ACT founder, John Barber, and HCDP founder, Richard Anku, worked together on improving access to healthcare in the Volta Region. Since then, Ghana ACT and HCDP have continued to support each other’s projects in various capacities, from raising awareness and funds to improving community outreach. We have formalized this partnership to improve the efficiency and efficacy of our work.
HCDP is now the umbrella organization for Ghana ACT, reducing the administrative costs and burdens of having two separate organizations working to achieve similar goals. Read more about this partnership and what this means for our volunteers, donors and supporters.
